So I big chopped a week ago and some days I love it, some days I don’t. For me the

biggest challenge is moisture and recognizing whether my coils are dry, coarse, or both. I have thick hair and as a result all moisture I apply is absorbed immediately. On top of this, I haven’t done my own hair in years and starting now on hair that is not processed is a challenge. Deciding to go natural was a decision that I did not take lightly. I read blogs and watched vlogs on how to take care of natural hair. I imagined how my hair would be fluffy and wondered how big I could grow my afro, but my hair looks nothing like the girls in the vlogs. My coils are tight and thick. If I want curls, I have to do a twist out or braid it.
