Hey Coilys so I tried a popular hairstyle the other day on my hair. I pulled my hair back into a puff then manipulated my hair with my fingers so that I could have a bump in front of the puff (I do not know what that style is called). Next time I will try to make the bump closer to my forehead. Also I left a little hair out on the sides but I will not be doing that again with this style. The products I used was shea moisture deep mask treatment and gel. Here are a few pictures:
I wanted to wait until it had been a year since I big chopped before I pressed my hair, but I was tempted and curious to see how far I had come in a year.

Today, I am celebrating not only the soldiers who sacrifice their lives for our freedom, but I am also celebrating my freedom from others expectations, opinions, and perceptions. I am celebrating my freedom of expression and acceptance of me. Happy Independence and National Afro Day!

This is a mini afro puff on washed hair (very quick style)
I was in a funk… the kind of funk where you have to do something drastic to escape from the depths that were so close to engulfing you, in my case drowning me. Before I sunk any further, I packed up my stuff and embarked on a journey to the other side of the world to a place where people stared at me and the symbols on billboards, signs, and menus looked like doodles rather than words. I escaped to a time where I was away from all the worries and responsibilities of life. A place where I could sleep all day or accomplish any goal that I dreamed or desired. It was a place where the decision or choice was all mine. No restrictions and no judgement, just peace of mind. I had so many goals, but so little action.
Random side note:
Sometimes you just have to get away to clear your mind and organize your thoughts to realize that the people who are good for you will make you a better person. The person you love will love you in return the way you want to be loved despite all faults and flaws (and vice versa). Lord give me the strength to LOVE MYSELF more than OTHERS.
Hey Coilys!!! I am still using shea moisture deep mask treatment but I have also started using flaxseed gel for when I twist my hair myself. I made the flaxseed gel myself with the help of my coworkers. I will put together a video soon to show you how we made it and all the oils we used. Stay tuned more videos coming soon.
