[About Us and Our Purpose]
Coily Roots , first name Coily, last name Roots…
We are not only a blog, but are and can be a movement.
We aim to empower, inform, and inspire positive thinking and behavior to anyone who subscribes and/or visits our site on relationships, health, style, beauty, politics, and travel. As a society, we have all questioned our sense of worth and suffer from imposed internal and external split personalities. Every day, we are constantly waging an internal war with our awareness of one’s self as well as how others perceive us. The result of this battle and the danger with this mentality is that we conform or rebel in ways that can be harmful to our true self and others.
Through our diverse blogs, we aim to provide social commentary that may come off as comedic, sassy, snarky and at other times serious. Individually, we are two sisters who strive to be the best that we can be and build each other up instead of tearing each other down. We are eternal optimists who prefer to see the best in others rather than the worst. But keep in mind that we are still human and will have moments every once in a while where we may not be chipper and uberly positive. Case and point, one of us is a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and if they lose the Superbowl because of a fumble, one of us may not be very compassionate to the poor soul at first. But don’t fret, just let us have our moment and make sure that you aren’t the one that fumbled.
Also, we do not advocate the removal of your backbone, if someone does you wrong, you should call them on it… with a smile. Please note – Make sure that you are right before you charge anyone up because humble pie can be a little bitter. We know from experience, read the blog.
[Disclaimer]
This is purely a social commentary from our perspective and you are entering this domain at your own risk. We strive to ‘keep it real’ and will not be held responsible for your tender sensibilities. If the truth easily offends you then ‘keep it moving’ cause this is not the place for you. We don’t live in a G-rated world and at times there may be some (just a tiny bit) adult context and it is not limited to curse words, alcohol, and/or sex.
Like the Secret deodorant Commercial says, “Strong enough for a man, but pH balance for a woman.” We accept blog contributions and are OPEN to all ethnicities and genders, but keep in mind we are two African-American sisters (note: not ‘sista’… we have the same parents) so inevitably, many of the blogs are coming from our experiences and perception. We do not discriminate, but our target audience is all of our cappuccino, chocolate chip, cocoa mocha, caramel, brown sugar, milk chocolate sisters that we feel have been undermined, misunderstood, demeaned, and not recognized.
Affectionately,
Coily Roots
